U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Wins Again

Led by Jayson Tatum's 27 points and a solid all-around effort from Kevin Durant, the U.S. Men erased an early first quarter deficit, and destroyed the Czech Republic 119-84. Here are the U.S.'s updated scoring, rebounding and assist leaders through three games:   Player Team Per Game Points Jayson Tatum Boston Celtics 16.7 Rebounds Kevin Durant Brooklyn Nets 5.0 Assists Zach Levine Chicago Bulls 5.3 After finishing in second place in Group A, the U.S. has clinched a spot in the quarterfinals which take place on the third of August. Group C concludes group play tomorrow (August 1st) to decide the remaining quarterfinalists and seeding.

U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team Leaders Through Two Games

The U.S. Men bounced back from their surprising defeat to France to handily dispatch of Iran 120-66 this morning. Here's a look at who has led the U.S. in points, rebounds and assists through their first two games:   Player Team Per Game Points Damian Lillard Portland Trail Blazers 16.0 Rebounds Jrue Holiday Milwaukee Bucks 5.5 Assists Zach Levine Chicago Bulls 5.5 Some notes: Lillard and Kevin Durant are the only U.S. players to score in double figures in each of the U.S.'s first two games.  Bam Adebayo had ten rebounds against France, but none against Iran. Jerami Grant was the only U.S. player not to see action in both games sitting out against France. The U.S. had 34 assists against Iran after getting just 23 against France. Eight of the twelve players on the U.S. roster have scored in double figures in at least one of the first two games.

Olympic Update: Women's Soccer - Group Play Results

This morning (or evening if you're in Japan I guess), the women's Olympic soccer competition concluded group play with eight of twelve teams advancing to the knockout round. The U.S. clinched their spot in the knockout round with a 0-0 tie against Australia thereby clinching second place in Group G on goal differential. Sweden won the U.S.'s group handily with wins in all three matches.
