Olympic Update: Women's Soccer - Group Play Results

This morning (or evening if you're in Japan I guess), the women's Olympic soccer competition concluded group play with eight of twelve teams advancing to the knockout round. The U.S. clinched their spot in the knockout round with a 0-0 tie against Australia thereby clinching second place in Group G on goal differential. Sweden won the U.S.'s group handily with wins in all three matches. Here are the full results (today's matches in red):

• Barbra Banda is the only player in the tournament with multiple hat tricks (2)
• The Netherlands led all teams with 21 goals during the group stage. Group F (USA, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand) combined for 21 goals while Group E (Great Britain, Canada, Japan, Chile) combined for 11.
• Vivianne Miedema scored multiple goals in all three Dutch matches. She's the only player to have scored in all three group matches for her country this tournament.
