Houston Rockets Summer League - Game 2

I know Summer League games mean next to nothing in the grand scheme of things, but on the heels of a 17-55 2020-21 campaign, a 2-0 start in the NBA Summer League seems like a fairly positive development for the Houston Rockets. 

The Rockets went with their same starting five as in the opener against Cleveland and used a big second quarter to cruise to a 111-91 win over the Detroit Pistons. 

Focusing on the Five Starters, here's a breakdown of how they've played over two games:

Of Note:
  • All five starters have scored in double digits in each of the first two games
  • Jalen Green led the Rockets in scoring in each of the first two games with 23 points against Cleveland and 25 points against Detroit.
  • In beating Cleveland and Detroit, the Rockets have gone head-to-head with the #3 (Evan Mobley, Cleveland) and #1 (Cade Cunningham, Detroit) picks in the 2021 NBA Draft. Jalen Green was the #2 pick overall. Mobley finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds while Cunningham had 20 points and 4 rebounds.
  • Houston is back in action on Thursday against Toronto.
