Unleash the Furies
So I started reading Rick Riordan's The Lightning Thief with my oldest son about a week or so ago. He really enjoyed the first four books of the Harry Potter series, but we cut him off there as he doesn't turn seven until next month and the subject matter is getting a little mature for him. Anyhow, we were looking for something else to read to him, and we settled on the Percy Jackson series.
With that, we were recently introduced the "The Kindly Ones" or "The Furies" which prompted a lot of six year old questions. So here's some interesting fun facts about The Furies:

The three "classic" Furies are Alecto, Megaera, and Tisiphone. Alecto was the embodiment of anger, Megaera the embodiment of murder, and Tisiphone the embodiment of jealousy.
All three sisters have asteroids named after them: 464 Megaira, 465 Alekto, and 466 Tishiphone.
The Furies live in Erebus, a place of "darkness" between Earth and Hades. Erebus is sometimes used interchangeably with Tartarus.
The Furies are also referred to as the Erinyes.
The Furies were referred to as the Kindly Ones because the Greeks feared speaking their true name.
The Furies were formed (spawned) from the blood of Uranus when he was castrated by his son, the Titan Kronos, and the blood fell upon the earth (Gaia). FUN!
